About Us

Tiny Tails and Scales started with [a love of] hamsters.

When Kayla got her first hamster, she learned how abundant the misinformation of animal care is on the internet; as she learned proper care and techniques, she wanted to help make sure others had access to it as well! She actively sought out hamsters listed for rehoming. Then she took in her first mouse, then a guinea pig, and even a rabbit or two!

She knew she wasn't going to be able to keep all the animals she was rescuing, and space was getting tight; she used her shelter experience to screen adopting families, and began adopting them out!

As Tiny Tails and Scales has expanded, we have established clear adoption requirements and rules in place to make sure animals stay safe, even after they head to their new home. Thanks to rescue partner Carly, we have been able to get established online with followers, and to address foster and adoption applications much faster than ever before!

Now we are introducing a website to make our information and rescue more accessible to those wanting to help little lives!

2023 marks nearly 3 years for Tiny Tails and Scales as a rescue; we are always improving and evolving to be a safe haven for animals!

Tiny Tails and Scales has an established 501c3 status.

Meet Our Founder

Kayla Creekpaum, founder of Tiny Tails and Scales

Since I was little I have had various species of critters around the house! I enjoyed spending all my free time at the local wildlife rescue in high school; I moved away to attend Washington State University, and soon after started working at the local animal shelter, which I later co-managed for a year after graduation. I knew animal rescue was my passion, and grew to love the smallest critters most; I started a career in veterinary medicine, which I still work in today.

There is a small community of people who advocate for these tiny lives; I found my niche, and promise to grow an establishment with the goal to save many.
